Information about Maria
I completed a BA Hons degree at Oxford University, and then went on to gain a PhD, also in Chemistry at Stanford University in the US. My professional background in the Pharmaceutical, Diagnostics and Biotechnology sectors includes experience in R&D, technology in-licensing, business development and consulting. I have also taught both Chemistry and Biochemistry to undergraduates at Reed College, one of the premiere teaching institutions in the USA. I started offering tutorials about eight years ago, and have experience with tutoring:
All three Sciences at 11+, 13+, GCSE, AS, A2, preU and International Baccalaureate levels
Undergraduates in Chemistry and allied subjects such as Nutrition, Pharmacology and Pharmacy
Coaching students preparing for medical school entrance examinations
In addition, I have tutored Maths to GCSE level together with English and Geography to 13+.
I am driven to help students to learn the syllabus and guide them with how best to answer questions.
Availability: At various times during the week or on weekends
Willing to travel: 15 miles
Experience: Over the last 10 years I have tutored over 100 students in the Sciences, Maths, English and Geography. Prior to this I taught Chemistry and Biochemistry to undergraduates at Reed College in the US. This experience followed my work as a Teaching Assistant for four years whilst a Graduate student at Stanford University.
I have worked as a research scientist at a listed American biotechnology company and a listed UK life sciences company. I then took a position at a large management consultancy where I contributed to the development of a technology strategy in multiple organisations worldwide. I later moved into Technology Licensing for a well known European firm with diverse interests including life sciences. Most recently, I was retained as an interim R&D Director at an AIM listed food/nutraceuticals company.
Since then, I have worked for myself - offering consulting and tutoring services.

Nice Lady but only read the book out which my son can do to.... we did not therefore pursue the lessons
Tutors Response :
In order to ensure that my coverage of the subject matter is comprehensive, I use textbooks as props particularly due to the range of Boards I am called upon to cover.
I`m sorry if this methodology is unacceptable - it is lamentable that we were unable that we were unable to discuss this then.
I also apologise for the late response.

Maria was very good at relating biology to chemistry and has a great knowledge base in the subjects. My daughter enjoyed her session and found it very helpful.

Dr Cordeiro gave my daughter a good tuition session and if my daughter requires further tuition, I will certainly contact Dr Cordeiro again.
