I specialise in only two (related) subjects, Business Studies and Economics in GCSE, A level and IB. I am an A Level examiner for two exam boards.
Availability: I only tutor online, every day except Sundays
Willing to travel: 50 miles
Experience: 14 years teaching Business and Economics in a large school where I was the KS5 Coordinator (in charge of A level) for these subjects. I am an A Level examiner for AQA and OCR.
I have been tutoring online for four years in my own time, testing Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) platforms to find which offers greatest ease-of-use for me and my pupils. Last September I retired fully from teaching to concentrate full-time on online tutoring.
Before that? Untypically for an Oxford graduate in History I went into construction project management in UK and overseas, most recently on very large energy projects in S-E Asia. When the 1997-8 credit crunch in that region encouraged a career switch I took the PGCE course in Business Studies at London University`s Institute of Education, becoming a Qualified Teacher in 2002.

Francis` online classroom is convenient and accessible. Very good tutor, obviously very knowledgeable and knows what he`s on about. Unfortunately his teaching style did not match our learning style but it was evident that he was professional and knew the exam boards inside out. Would recommend.

I found Francis by chance and am so glad I did. My daughter has yet to take her A Level Business, but she has much more confidence in tackling the questions, than she did before speaking with Francis. He is so calm and patient and yet not patronising. I wasn`t sure how this online tutoring would work, but my daughter is totally at ease with it and has become very committed to her Business tutor sessions. Thank you Francis.

We cannot recommend Francis enough. In just one or two sessions he has managed to switch my daughter back on and make her believe in herself. One the one hand he is organised, efficient and structured with a tight handle on what examiners are looking for. On the other, he finds ways to make the subject truly relevant and interesting to her. He is utterly focused on finding strategies that work for Katie and, whilst he has high standards, he is also kind and empathetic. He goes the extra mile and I believe his approach will have a positive knock on effect in other areas.
