Information about Elizabeth
I have recently graduated with an English degree from the University of Cambridge, 2.1. I studied Law in my first year (2016-17) and transferred to English after obtaining a 2.1 for Part 1, Law Tripos. In September 2020, I will commence the LLM Law and Legal Practice (legal conversion programme) at BPP University, London.
I graduated from Sevenoaks School in 2016, and achieved 43 points in the International Baccalaureate Diploma. My Higher Level subjects were History, English and Chemistry, and I studied Russian, Mathematical Studies and Music at Standard Level.
I simultaneously attended the Royal College of Music Junior Department from 2008-2015, and achieved my ABRSM Diploma (DipABRSM) with Distinction in 2015 on the cello. I participated in multiple orchestras, chamber music groups and choral ensembles. I would highly recommend the Junior RCM to anyone who adores performing classical music and doing so with others.

Willing to travel: 4 miles
Experience: 500+ hours total. Over 300 hours of online tuition with Lanterna Education and u2 Tuition and over 200 hours of tuition as a self-employed tutor. My specialisms are Theory of Knowledge, English Literature and Study Skills Support.
I taught IB English for 3 weeks on Lanterna Education`s residential course in 2019. I also led workshops on Study Skills, Essay Writing, Theory of Knowledge and Academic Research for Pre-IB candidates. Over 100 hours of f2f tuition in total. Recently, I taught four-hour English workshops to classes of 22+ students via Zoom Video Conferencing (one week virtual summer programme). Please see the testimonial below.
As part of the Oxbridge Summer Camps Abroad programme, a highly-competitive scheme, I taught English as a foreign language to businessmen, university students and senior school students for a five-week period in Kobe, Japan. I delivered creative workshops with legal and political themes, aimed at developing skills in public speaking and debate.
Other teaching experience includes:
- offering guidance for Oxbridge application and guidance for law-specific application;
- providing video-based lessons to students based in China;
- teaching locally on a private basis at GSCE level
I also provide a personal statement service and proof-reading assistance. I have aided successful application into LSE, Kings College London and Imperial College London for master`s programmes, and proof-read several master`s theses to a first-class standard.
Recently, I have volunteered free tuition to students in AQA GCSE English and OCR A Level English Literature as part of the Coronavirus Tutoring Initiative.
Testimonial from Course Director at Lanterna Education and Course Leader for Söderberg & Partners Online Summer Camp 2020:
"The feedback from students, parents and colleagues has been, without exception, laudative. Typically, students approach these courses with a strong interest in the Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and struggle to connect with the English lessons. In spite of this, an unprecedented number of students from this years cohort named Elizabeths workshops as their favourite part of the entire experience - a true testament to her strong attention to detail and ability to provide the client with a bespoke service; not simply meeting, but exceeding the students expectations by being perceptive to their needs.
Further, Elizabeth was sure to meet our expectations - she needed no reminding to be proactive and take initiative when planning a workshop entirely from scratch, while maintaining harmonious collaboration with another tutor. Prior to the courses, Elizabeth relieved our administrative burden immensely by communicating clearly and consistently with us in regards to her progress on tasks that needed to be completed before teaching began. Her preparatory work further demonstrated an innate ability to plan for every eventuality, and allowed us the security to completely trust in her ability to deliver an engaging course.
I was consistently impressed by and appreciative of Elizabeths organisation, flexibility, and meticulousness: these are all qualities for which I can strongly vouch."
Recommendation from DPhil Candidate, University of Oxford
"I worked with Lizzy on a collaborative teaching project in July 2020, and she was an excellent co-tutor. She put lots of effort into collaborative planning, and created attractive and easy-to-use resources. It was easy for us to build rapport with the classes we taught, despite teaching online. She was able to clearly communicate content to students online, in places she taught alone and when we taught sections collaboratively.
Moreover, Lizzy was always punctual in creating work for our meetings and lessons. She is friendly and personable, and able to be relatable to students, whilst retaining a professional manner."
Student testimonial 1 (Study Skills, English and Theory of Knowledge):
"Lizzy not only have you helped me, but you believed in me. You knew that I could do the IB, and you supported me through my difficulties, and the frustrations that came my way. I`m eternally thankful for the help you have given me."
Student testimonial 2 (English and Theory of Knowledge):
"I got a 7 for my IO in English which is amazing and a B in TOK with 1 point away from an A. Thank you so so much for your help."
