I am a piano tutor with over ten years’ experience in and out of the classroom. I have recently relocated to Harrogate from Oxford, where I first studied and later worked at the university.

I have taught children, teenagers and adults using a range of methods, including learning by ear, reading notation, and using technology, such as video/audio recording and sequencing. I have taught complete beginners as well as more experienced pianists, who may have moved from another teacher or are picking up the piano again after a break.

I believe that one of the most important ways to progress is through a trusting relationship between client and teacher. I am qualified and have a DBS certificate. Students must be motivated to practise and so I work with the music they like to play, while being aware of developing important keyboard and theory skills. The best lessons are fun!

I also taught at secondary schools in Greater London and West Yorkshire. I improved GCSE results by 33% through regular assessment and intervention and would also enjoy supporting students with their Music GCSE or A-Level, whether this be the music history, theory, composition or performing parts of the syllabus.

I teach from my home in Harrogate and can also teach online. On-street parking is available and there is a waiting room for parents and guardians.
