Information about Clare

I am a fully qualified teacher. I was originally primary trained at Elizabeth Gaskell College in Manchester and gained a Certificate of Education (with distinction), but have worked with all ages. Most recently I have been working on a one-to-one basis with pupils who are not in school due to illness, exclusion or difficulties finding an appropriate placement. I have specialist qualifications in speech and language disorders (B.Phil.Ed)with distinction from Birmingham University) and spent 15 years in a Speech and Language Unit as a teacher / teacher-in-charge. I also have a diploma in Specific Learning Difficulties/dyslexia (with merit) from the Hornsby Centre. I enjoy working with pupils who have additional needs, particularly those who have language difficulties and those on the autistic continuum. I always like to find different ways to engage a pupil in learning and use a range of games and activities, in addition to more formal methods, to make learning fun! I have recently retired from teaching for Essex County Council and NT&AS but am keen to continue working on a one-to-one basis with pupils. I am happy to liaise with schools if required.
In my spare time I love reading, looking after my ducks and chickens and trying to establish our new garden!

Availability: I am available during day during the week and possibly some after-school sessions (depending on location). Some weekend sessions may also be available.I prefer to work from my home as I can access resources easily but may be prepared to travel provided it isn`t dark!

Willing to travel: 10 miles
