Information about Gabriel
Hello! I`m Gabs and I tutor for children in primary school, all the way up to GCSE standard in the following subjects: Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. I`m an Imperial College London graduate, and studied Materials Science and Engineering. I`m happy to say that I graduated with first class honours.
In terms of my tutoring style, as we go through a topic, I`ll gradually increase the conceptual difficulty appropriately according to my tutee`s pace and ability. I`ve also found that linking topics to real life practical applications works wonders in terms of interest and motivation. I believe in positive motivation, helping my students` understand the benefits of a good education in order to motivate them, as opposed to the potential consequences associated with complacency. I usually assign homework, as independent learning has to take place outside of the tutoring environment. I expect my tutees to have to explain learned concepts back to me as this is one of the best ways to check if you`ve understood what`s been taught. And finally, I will push them to be the best possible version of themselves!

I am based primarily in north Oxford and I am easily able to teach at my home and/or students` homes in the City of Oxford. I may also be able to travel to nearby towns and villages in Oxfordshire such as Woodstock, Witney, Thame, Abingdon, Banbury etc, depending on travel cost compensation. In general, if the student`s home is within a 15 - 20 mile radius, I`d be willing to consider travel there.
Willing to travel: 20 miles
Experience: Tutored A level physics and GCSE maths to pupils on a weekly basis in Quintin Kynaston school in London for several months while at university. One of my pupils was offered a place at Imperial College. Totalled about 60 hours of tutoring.
Taught and trained teachers, pupils and technicians in using technology to improve their learning at an underprivileged school in India over the summer. This involved working with pupils on an individual basis to show them how tablets and computers worked and how to use them to do research and improve their general knowledge, as well as organising group tutorials and coordinating hands-on activities. I also gained experience in classroom teaching.
