Currently a Medical Student (BM4) at the University of Southampton, after graduating from Brunel University, London in 2012 with first class honours in Biomedical Sciences. A Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Music. Passionate about biology and passionate about teaching.
My approach to teaching is based on E.D.I.P
Explanation, a clear and approachable teaching of underlying principles or practical skill using a variety of visual, written and practical methods.
Demonstration, showing my student how principles can be applied - particularly scientific content applied to the real world.
Imitation, letting my students show me what they have learned through feedback, quiz and testing.
Practice, allowing students the time to practice, and apply knowledge with regular feedback and follow up.
My teaching approach is formal, with real life applications delivered in a laid back manner.
Availability: Weekday evenings and weekends.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: Tutoring in 2011/12 academic year of two A Level biology students, one of which went in to gain an A at level and secure a place at University, the other gained grade B and is currently pursing a career health and fitness training in the Southampton area. Tutoring 2014/2015 with a student gaining good grade B at AS level biology.
Teaching guitar and piano for the past 6 years at Southampton Rock and Pop Music Schools. Students aged 11-52 taught on a weekly basis. Taking two students through grade 5 with honours and one through grade 8 with merit.
